We are all aware of the perils that our dogs and cats face in the street, but there are other, less obvious, dangers in our own front yards...
Baxter is an energetic, four year old, Soft-coated Wheaten Terrier with very bad timing. Just as a lawn care service was working in his yard, he was accidentally let out and began chasing the lawnmower. Although Baxter tried to stop himself from colliding with the mower, he slid on the grass and ended up underneath it. Poor Baxter's leg was severely injured. (I'll omit the gory details.) Amputation was the only option.
Thankfully, with the expert care he received from Dr. Brent Chandler and staff here at North Shelby County Animal Hospital, Baxter is on the road to recovery! He's getting around great on his three remaining legs, and will be back to his happy self in no time.
Please remember to keep your pets safe and secure around mowers and other lawn equipment this summer!
